Educational Outreach Program (EOP) for Homeless Children

The Educational Outreach Program is a program within Denver Public Schools that is dedicated to helping students experiencing homelessness succeed in school. We provide clothing vouchers, school supplies, tutoring and after-school programs, hygiene supplies, special events, school uniforms and transportation to students.

On any given day, over 900 homeless children attend Denver Public Schools. They are living in motels, shelters, cars, doubled up with friends or family members, or on the streets. Our mission is to help provide students with educational stability while their living situation is unstable. ESL - English as a Second Language

Adults and parents of school-age children who are interested in improving their English Language skills are encouraged to enroll at Emily Griffith Opportunity School, the largest and oldest English as a Second Language Center in the state. Opportunity School offers English language education at all levels from no English to college bound students. The ESL program is delivered by an educated and experience staff of instructors, many of whom have been at Opportunity School for 20 or more years. Kaleidoscope Corner

Kaleidoscope Corner is an on-site, licensed, school-age child care program serving children in grades K-5. Denver Community School established Kaleidoscope Corner to provide high quality educational, recreational and cultural opportunities for children. Kaleidoscope Corner's philosophy is to provide a creative, safe, and caring environment for children before and after the regular school day. Kaleidoscope's after school care (3:45-6:00 PM) allows children to participate in quality after school time that includes learning, play and an opportunity to try new things. After-school activities include science, art, homework, group games, and outdoor play. An afternoon snack is provided. Summer Scholars

Summer Scholars is no longer just a summer program, Summer Scholars now also works during the academic school year to improve students' reading skills through an after-school tutoring program and an initiative to increase family literacy. By offering students at nineteen Northeast Denver elementary schools year-round instruction and services, Summer Scholars has prevented the "summer learning slide" among 100% of participating students and has improved the reading skills of 80% of participants. There are two Parent Information and Resource Centers in Colorado through a grant from the US Department of Education, Office for Innovation and Improvement.

Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition

Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition provides training and technical assistance to parents and educators and enhances their abilities to establish effective home/school partnerships in order to increase student achievement. The primary goal of the CSPC is to close the achievement gap and increase graduation rates for students who come from historically under-represented families. The Robert A. Miller Educational Resource Center RAMERC
